From electricity production to defence of the nation and medical uses, the UK has benefitted from nuclear technology for more than 60 years. Radioactive Waste Management (RWM) is working to support and deliver approaches to the way we safely and securely manage radioactive waste to protect people and the environment now and in the future.
As part of this work, RWM will be leading delivery of a Geological Disposal Facility (GDF) to be used for the permanent disposal of radioactive wastes. A GDF will be a major infrastructure project. Similar projects are already underway in countries like Finland and Sweden. RWM, as the developer, will work in partnership with local communities, as part of a consent-based approach to siting and will provide jobs, skills and investment to a willing community for more than 100 years.
As part of the transformation to develop a company-wide programme delivery capability we now require two Siting Managers to join our Siting and Engagement Directorate. As a Siting Manager, you will be responsible for implementation of the GDF siting process in the UK to find a suitable site for a GDF.
With relevant technical and project management experience in the investigation and evaluation of areas or sites for major infrastructure projects or large underground mines or structures, you will bring experience in the generation and analysis of information to support decision-making regarding the GDF, assessing the feasibility of potential areas and sites to ascertain risks and viability. The ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders and strong leadership qualities are essential attributes for this role.
Closing date for applications is Wednesday 31st July 2019
